On-going personalized support

For both already established and yet-to-start up, KFSE provides regular site visits to offer personalized mentorship and skills development. The focus is on providing entrepreneurs with tailored guidance to address their specific challenges they may be having in implementing their business plans, support them to refine their strategies, and build confidence in decision-making.

 

During this phase, the emphasis is on practical skill-building in areas such as book-keeping, financial management, and market analysis, so as to ensure they can adapt and thrive in competitive environments.

Moreover, KFSE also collects data on the businesses (track performance, evaluate the implementation of different businesses plans). This data is then consolidated and analyzed to provide key information such as; emerging businesses trends, competitive benchmarking, adaptability to market and customer preferences.

Remember: “What Slavery Once Was, Poverty and Marginalization Are Today.”

In 2021, KFSE published a groundbreaking report outlining strategies for sustainable economic empowerment. However, implementing these strategies proved to be an uphill battle. Potential funders possibly questioned the feasibility of the initiatives, doubted their scalability, or perhaps lacked confidence in KFSE’s capacity to execute them.

Just as KFSE’s story seemed to have ended, an unexpected development breathed new life into the organization. What the KFSE team had not realize at the time, was that their work had created a ripple effect. A prominent global economist, had been convinced by KFSE’s claim that:

“Economically empowered queer individuals are more likely to claim and assert their rights, while economic vulnerability often correlates with increased rights violations.”

The economist proposed a challenge: Would KFSE be willing to test and document scalable strategies for queer economic empowerment if provided with funding?

Before committing, KFSE consulted Kenya’s Business Registration Services to explore the possibility of reinstating their registration. To their surprise, the process was straightforward, requiring only the submission of statutory returns. Energized by this unexpected opportunity, KFSE complied with the requirements, reactivated their registration, and we are now ready to look into the future with confidence.
